The staff were so helpful and lovely with my granddaughter! We loved the breakfast and an evening meal we had was excellent, really good quality and tasty food! The room was spotless and spacious, lots of choice for tea and coffee! Lovely little Xmas gift for each of us was a nice touch! The main reason we selected this hotel was due to it having a swimming pool!! However the pool seemed quite cold even though the temperature was 29.1. It felt really cool, I couldn’t go in as I had a chest infection but the Jacuzzi was so warm and was lovely! My granddaughter went in the cool pool then had a quick warm in the jacuzzi with me! Then the big blow came, the man at the desk told me my granddaughter wasn’t allowed in the jacuzzi as she was too young! He said the temperature difference was dangerous for her! I told him she’s my responsibility and I would look after her. He said he could lose his job and said if I allowed her to go in we would have to leave the pool! His attitude wasn’t good and this was the only thing that let the hotel down as everything else was perfection! I’m aware there are rules in place for health and safety reasons, but I really couldn’t see a problem as I was supervising her at all times. I did complain to the receptionist but to no avail. They should be a bit more flexible when adults say they will take on the responsibility if anything happened! My granddaughter was so upset and was crying as she lives going in the water and she is an excellent little swimmer!

We had requested a "walk in" shower, as it is easier for us. this was not available so we were given an accessible room. This was much nearer to front of hotel, which was good. The shower was a bit complicated as was geared up for wheel chair users. So the wash basin was lower too. We found the plug( screw in ) and tap( very fierce water pressure) needed getting used to. All we really needed was a shower cubical. However the bed was so comfortable. There could have been some drawer or shelf space for cloths etc, but considering the type of room and how it would be used this was understandable. The staff (Susan) on reception and every single one were so friendly, happy and helpful. It seemed nothing was too much to ask of them. We enjoyed the food. Very generous breakfast with a big choice. The main meals were good as well. We had a very good (much needed) break in Chester. It's a lovely city and would recommend anyone to pay a visit. Thank you we had a lovely stay.

We stayed 2 nights. Thank you very much to Sid who helped make our stay happen when we had to cancel in November due to rail strike. All staff were pleasant and polite. Loved pool and jacuzzi. Only disappointment was that when requested 2 meals from menu on website we were told they were unavailable as chef would only prepare what was on the one sheet menu we were given. All other food and breakfast option was a little overpriced for our needs. Therefore we ate elsewhere. Thanks for a pleasant stay. Sue Lewis. Nancy Robottom

Staff were excellent, always there when needed but never intrusive. I had thought I had booked a double room but in fact I had booked a twin. On discovering this ( by opening the room door) we went back to reception and they were happy to find an empty double room and swap it. The hotel is a little out of town but almost next to the park and ride, so access to Chester centre was easy, we could leave the car at the hotel and not have to worry about parking.

Howard

Good location for parking and easy access to city centre either via Park & Ride which was a five minute walk from the hotel, or a 30/40 minute walk along the canal. The room was fine, although take into account there are no wardrobes as such, so not ideal for a long stay. There was a small amount of hanging space and adequate drawers though. Bed was large and comfy. Hotel itself was in pretty good order: plenty of parking, friendly, helpful staff.
